Website & digital presence
Website relaunch & positioning for practices
The practice is modern, the website is from the day before yesterday: services as a list of technical terms, forms to print out, opening hours hidden somewhere – and for everything else, "give us a call". So that's exactly what patients do, all at once.
Custom website relaunch
01Intro
The relaunch turns the website into an instrument that pulls its weight rather than just existing: services and focus areas explained clearly instead of in jargon, a for-patients area that answers the questions that otherwise tie up the phone, appointment and prescription paths structured (without replacing a booking system) – and opening hours and holiday cover where you find them instantly. Plus the basics that decide trust in healthcare: a modern, credible presence, mobile usability, local findability. And the second stream of visitors is planned in from the start: applicants, because finding good medical assistants is often the bigger problem.
Straight up: not every practice needs the full relaunch – sometimes what's there holds up and a targeted upgrade is enough. The review settles that. And the website doesn't replace sensitive processes: appointment booking and patient data deliberately stay out of scope or need a data-protection concept of their own – that belongs to the positioning, not the small print.
02Demo
The website of a fictional GP practice as a structure diagram. Toggle: first the grown presence with PDF forms and news from 2021 – then the same content after the relaunch. Turquoise marks the paths that take pressure off the phone.
03How it works
- 01
Settle the starting point, the concerns and the goal
What ties up the phone today, which questions keep coming back, where do patients drop off on the website? And what should the new site do – relief, trust, recruiting? The target comes before the first draft.
- 02
Plan the structure and the paths
Page structure and the features needed are planned before anything is designed: services explained clearly, a for-patients area with the common questions, appointment/prescription paths structured, careers as a path of its own. Every page with a job.
- 03
Design that builds trust
Healthcare websites sell trust. The design grows out of the practice – calm, clear, credible, with real people instead of stock-photo doctors. That's how confidence builds before anyone calls.
- 04
Build, fill, wire it up
Technical build in the right stack, content written to be understood, appointment/prescription paths and a short application form connected cleanly. Fast, mobile first, low-barrier.
- 05
Upkeep, measurement, room to grow
By the end it's clear who maintains hours and content and how (the holiday cover shouldn't be a coding job) and where the site docks on: FAQ assistant, router, explainer content.
04Stages
A relaunch needn't be a big project – you can start with whatever is pressing hardest right now.
Entry: the relief focus
A rework of the core paths: services explained clearly, a for-patients FAQ, hours and holiday cover prominent – without touching the whole website.
Extended: the full relaunch
Structure, content, design, patient and applicant paths, maintainability – the practice website is rebuilt as a whole, modern and trustworthy.
Full build: AI-ready from the ground up
The relaunch is built as a data base from the start: services, processes and FAQs structured – the foundation for an FAQ assistant and a light knowledge base.
05Technical implementation
- The stack follows the project: an Astro/code website for maximum control, Webflow for visually maintained presences, or an existing CMS as the base.
- Services, team, FAQs and hours live as structured CMS fields – the holiday cover becomes an update, not a coding job.
- Appointment and prescription paths are connected in a structured way, without replacing a booking system or handling patient data – limits set deliberately.
- Local visibility is part of it: structured data (MedicalOrganization, FAQ), a Google Business check, load time on mobile, low barriers.
- Forms and the short application form through a clean back end; data held on EU servers.
- Optional as its own layer: an FAQ assistant as a website component – prepared for, even if it only comes later.
for context · This shows how something like this usually gets built – not how it has to be built for you. What actually fits is worked out in the project: around your existing setup, your team, and what stays easy to maintain.
